The Wine Detective
A fingerprint is a symbol of originality and uniqueness. There are never two of a kind, just like there are no identical wines. Geographical area, region, climate, grape type and care all make wines different. Therefore every bottle is a fingerprint of the area it was produced.
The Wine Detective is an independent on line wine shop located in Prague. We deliver anywhere in the Czech Republic, and collections can be arranged in Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Hradec Kralove as well as Bratislava in Slovakia.
We specialise in wines from Austria, Hungary and Slovakia as well as offering wines from some of the lesser known Moravian wineries. We offer the wine enthusiast high quality, hand crafted wines from talented family wine makers which include many that are unique to the Wine Detective.
We have taken our time to prepare an on-line shop which is easy to navigate – you can search our wine either by grape variety or country or for those looking for a wine to match a particular occasion we have included a guided wine search which with four questions leads you to the perfect wine.

Kerschbaum winery from the Mittelburgenland region in Austria
Burgenland has in recent years come to define and then to dominate Austrian red wine production. Burgenland owes much to the influence of Neusiedlersee, the shallow lake at the centre of the region.
The Mittelburgenland is a southern continuation of the forested hills to the west of the Neusiedlersee. The nickname "Blaufränkischland" reflects the dominant variety here, which is the subject of the only red wine DAC and can be excellent, the Bordeaux varieties also do well here.
